| Although the CW said goodbye to Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars, all is not lost for the love child of CBS and Warner Brothers.
The CW Sunday runs two new shows (which I think should be one) to start the night. CW Now and Online Nation seem to be young-skewing newsmagazines. Let's see what happens. I like the effort. Life is Wild is a family friendly show in the vain of 7th Heaven. An encore play of America's Next Top Model rounds out the night.
Comedy rules at CW Monday, with only one new entry, Aliens in America. I'm still a bit befuddled that the longest-running sitcom on television is Girfriends. (I know I've mentioned that elsewhere in the Preview.) It's not breaking records, but I think they have a solid night.
On Tuesday Beauty and the Geek takes over the old Stars Hollow slot to be followed by the new Reaper. Reaper was in my running for First To Die. Don't dismiss Beauty out of hand. It's not a bad show and fun for some (this'll sound odd) intelligent mindless entertainment.
Tyra continues her model quest with America's Next Top Model on Wednesday and leads in to The N.Y.C. No, wait, it's called Gossip Girl. That's going to have some diffculty since there are four new dramas in the hour, including Private Practice and Bionic Woman.
The CW Thursday returns unshaken with Season 7 of Smallville and Season 3 of Supernatural. Their audiences are already established, you're probably not going to start now.
Smackdown is UPN, er, The CW Friday. As the CW grows, expect this to disappear from the network. It's completely not the demo they are looking for and it gives a promotional platform to an audience that isn't watching their other programming.
Season 2 for the CW, well, doesn't suck. Not by a long shot. As I mentioned, they aren't going to break any records, but they've built a decent schedule. Here's a wacky idea. Sports. Take a look at what's out there and see what rights you can acquire. Fox did it. |
