American Broadcasting Company, since 1943.
ABC is in a bit of a weird place. They are definitely in transition with eight new shows, three midseason launches and relaunch of Lost.

Sunday is unchanged for the Alphabet, and the only real question is will Brothers & Sisters experience a sophomore slump.

Dancing With the Stars kicks off ABC Monday, followed by the new Samantha Who? (which won't debut until October 15. The 'I-didn't-realize-it-is-still-on' edition of The Bachelor ends the night. They get a huge boost from Dancing, but CBS and the new NBC Monday will make the night interesting.

I think if you'd like to see ABC's comedy hour of Cavemen and Carpoolers, you'd better not wait to check 'em out. I don't expect they'll be around very long. Dancing With the Stars Results is obvious and Boston Legal holds it own against anything. Cashmere Mafia takes over the 9pm slot after Dancing concludes its run.

ABC Wednesday is a risk. An all-new night of anything is tough to launch. Pushing Daisies has had the biggest marketing push of any ABC show and it preceeds the Grey's Anatomy spin-off, Private Practice. It'll be interesting to see how they export the magic they had with Grey's. Ending the night is the new Dirty Sexy Money. It's a very symbiotic night. ABC is putting an awful lot on the night.

On the other hand, ABC Thursday is a slam dunk. Arguably the most successful show of the 2006-07 season, Ugly Betty returns to start the night. The #1 scripted show on television, Grey's Anatomy is a lead in to the new Big Shots giving Shots what is probably the best launching pad on TV right now.

Friday gives us 20/20 in a new timeslot, followed by the new Women's Murder Club and the former bubble show, Men In Trees. Friday has actually become competitive again all around.

ABC Saturday is College Football and then presumably movies, specials and encores.

Last year's gutsy move of Grey's to Thursday changed a lot for ABC. It gives them a promotional platform that's second to none. The all-new Wednesday is a bit daring, but I like it. In addition to Private Practice, they need one new show to become a hit and they'll be challenging CBS for the overall crown.
