"Wednesday morning papers didn't come..." — Beatles, 1968
Something old and something new, that sums up Wednesday. ABC returns its strike-shortened lineup from last year and here's to hoping they got Private Practice fixed. CBS starts the night with comedy and then rolls into drama. The CW Wednesday is modeling and a 90210 encore until a magazine reality show publishes in late October. Fox brings back Bones (how is that in Season 4 already?) and two comedies which will have very few viewers. NBC kicks off the night back-to-the-future like with an updated show about a talking car, followed by a bald germophobe who has briefcases opened for him and a show about three women who juggle careers and sexual partners.

Cable serves up the all-new Sons of Anarchy on FX at 10 while the now-Showtime highlighter Inside the NFL runs and passes at 9.

Like Monday, there is something for everyone here, but quality is another story. The 8pm hour is truly a crapshoot. If Knight Rider doesn't suck as hard as I think it will (I really want it to be good), the slot could be theirs. I'll have to give the slot win to ABC. It still surprises me that Criminal Minds works, yet it does and well. If Private Practice has figured it out, it'll give CBS a run for the hour. The 10pm hour goes to CBS as well as the night.
