Sunday arrives nearly exactly as we saw it last September. ABC, Fox and NBC bring back their lineups, completely intact. CBS brings The Unit as their 10pm entry. The Unit was one of those bubble shows that could have easily vanished after the strike and interestingly enough, CBS doesn't seem to have a financial interest in the show. If NBC's Sunday Night Football game isn't compelling after 10 ET, men will flip over to CBS, with women over to Brothers & Sisters on ABC.The night's big new non-thing is an all-new CW Sunday. The casual viewer won't know this, because they don't care, but the CW isn't programming Sunday night. They've turned it over to producer Media Rights Capital. One of the oddest things I've ever seen is that the CW, starting November 2, is beginning primetime at 6:30pm. I simply don't get it. All four CW shows are going to struggle to find any audience.
On the cable side, HBO sees the series premiere of Tru Blood (Sep 7) at 9, followed by season 5 of Entourage at 10 (also Sep 7) and Little Britain (Sep 28). Our favorite serial killer Dexter returns to Showtime for killing Season 3 at 9 (Sep 28) and season 2 of Californication (also Sep 28).The night, during football, goes to NBC. ABC and CBS will duke it out for second.
