Every night is good: WPIX, KTLA, WGN, WPSG, KDAF, KBCW, WLVI, WUPA, WDCW, KIAH, et al...
It's been a year and I still hate the name. I do, however, like their green hue but that doesn't change the fact that the CW Sunday is appalling. Two of the four shows don't fit their demo. When you're going for a very specific audience, why stray? The November 2 time change for In Harm's Way is about as perplexing as I've ever seen, even with the CW Easy View (where they show off-net encores from 5-7pm). That's a 5:30 CT start. That goes the same for the 7:30pm start time of Surviving Suburbia. On the subject of those two, no one's going to watch the former and no one is ever going to find the latter. As for Valentine, the 8pm entry, good luck. There's huge competition in the slot, including the football kickoff. The odds aren't very good. Easy Money in the 9pm hour is the other mismatched demo show and again has a ton of competition. The only hope is they seriously push the whole night during their Monday-Thursday slate and cross their fingers. They probably set the bar very, very low and figured it was worth it to outsource the night.

CW Monday is a big night (for them) and they text it off with last year's buzz leader, Gossip Girl and followed by Season 6 of One Tree Hill. Both slots are very tough, even with the CW's smaller numbers, each show does a have a loyal following...a small, loyal following. XoXo.

Tuesday on the CW is all-new and 90210 seems to have the most buzz of any new show out there. Here's hoping they don't completely fark up years of fun at the Peach Pit. Privileged is a perfect fit post-90210. Even if they don't get huge numbers, both shows need strong word-of-mouth (and of blog) to help the CW's second year. (Note to the CW: If fans start building sites promoting your new shows, leave them alone. In fact, offer to help them.)

Televised modeling and televised job hunting are the CW Wednesday. It'll start out with cycle 11 of America's Next Top Model and encores of 90210 before adding Stylista in late October. Model comes in as forecast, but Stylista seems more for cable than even the CW to me. One and done, perhaps?

The WB Thursday is back and intact. No seriously, this was the WB Thursday which is now the CW Thursday. No surprises here at all. Season 8 of Smallville and Season 4 of Supernatural.

As expected the CW and the WWE have parted ways (it went to My Network TV which is no longer part of this preview) for comedy holdovers from last year. I get Everybody Hates Chris returning, but Season 3 of The Game? Obviously it's pulling numbers someone likes.

Mercifully, the CW doesn't program Saturday night. Most affiliates show a movie.

Reaper returns midseason.

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the CW, but they've yet to have any breakout hit. I know it's only been two seasons since the lovechild of the WB and UPN arrived, but time's a-wasting. Perhaps 90210 will help.
