→ UPN has a pretty good 2001-02. They picked up "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" from the WB and brought "Enterprise" back to the future. The WWF became the WWE, but "Smackdown" is doing just fine. Two shows return for their second season ("One on One," "Enterprise") which is no small feat since UPN only programs 10 hours (Weeknights, 8-10p) per week. Realize that the netlets essentially compete with each other, not the other four.UPN Monday starts with the newly-slotted "The Parkers" and "One on One." It's a pretty competitive slot, but realistically, UPN strives for #3 in their target demo with a #4 overall as the goal. No doubt they would like to draw more audience but the natioanl coverage isn't here. "Girlfriends" moves to the 9pm comedy block with the new "Half and Half." No one's turning over to watch "Half and Half" specifically, but if you're watching "Girlfriends," you're probably watching "Half and Half." UPN Tuesday slays vamps with "Buffy" at 8p, in what could be its final season. Recently married series star Sarah Michelle Gellar is unsure if she is going to re-up at the end of her current contract. Even though it does consistently get beaten by "Gilmore Girls," it's done well for UPN. "Haunted" brings "Party of Five"'s Matthew Fox back to TV. If it can retain "Buffy"'s aud and make a drive into "Smallville," it'll be a good thing for UPN. "Enterprise" blasts into its second season on UPN Wednesday and will continue, on course, as last year. "The Twilight Zone" rounds out the sked for the night in what I consider to be the second most competitive slot of the week. Good luck with that one, UPN. "Thwack," is the sound of UPN Thursday and "WWE Smackdown." It's done very well and should continue to do so. The "UPN Friday Night Movie" ends the week.
With only three new shows, the way the sked is, "Haunted" is the one they need to gain on the WB.
