my take on Tuesday
Tuesday remains somewhat static with six hours unchanged. There's some show about dancing against arguably TV's hottest drama. A CW pairing most agree is a perfect match and two of the three hours of a certain Dick Wolf franchise. I expect everything to remain relatively status quo, but it's all just a wait until January.

ABC takes over the fall call-in category with the third rev of Dancing with the Stars. I might sample it this year due to Sara Evans' presence. It's going to do very well and ABC needs to not go to the well too often. This should be the only edition of Dancing until next September. Take a page from the Idol playbook. The 9pm hour has two sitcoms which are distinctly different (The Knights of Prosperity and Help Me Help You) and will more than likely have very different fates. The night is capped off by the snarky stylings of Crane, Poole, and Schmidt over at Boston Legal.

CBS starts a fourth season of NCIS at 8 which will continue to be a solid performer just like its predecessor, JAG. The Unit continues at 9 from last midseason and was a surprise hit. There's nothing to get in its way. The night ends with the new Ray Liotta vehicle, Smith. Not so sure about this one and its slot isn't going be forgiving. A possible flip to 9 might benefit everyone.

Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars live on as the new CW Tuesday. Anyone who's seen the shows realizes that pairings that fit like these don't come along often. Hopefully now both shows can get the recognition (and additional viewers) they deserve. (Still pissed that no one from Gilmore was recognized at the Emmys.)

Dr. House recovers from last season's finale to lead off Fox Tuesday. The audience for House can only build, but will be tempered a bit due to Dancing with the Stars. It'll get a boost in January. Speaking of boosts, Standoff gets a great slot at 9 and will do better than it would elsewhere. American Idol returns to Tuesday in January when House moves to 9 and Standoff moves pre-24 to Monday. Tuesday will continue to do very well for Fox.

Is it just me, or is it a bit odd to have Friday Night Lights lead off NBC Tuesday? I know it's just a title. I don't envy the slot since it's got stiff competition from several different sides in the forms of Dancing, NCIS and House. Law & Order: Criminal Intent moves in (from Sunday) at 9 which leads into the 10pm hour of Law & Order: SVU. Both should hold their own against the competition.

My continues it's stripped run of Desire and Fashion House.

Tuesday's Top 3 for the first half are Dancing With The Stars, House and NCIS. Tuesday's Top 3, starting in January are American Idol, House and NCIS.
