Monday welcomes two new sitcoms and two new dramas.ABC gives the "extra hour" before/after (depending on your time zone) "Monday Night Football" to a new night of "Primetime." "MNF" is one of the lone positives on the ABC slate, and it doesn't draw like it used to mostly due to generally uninteresting and meaningless games.
CBS pulled the Monday Night shuffle with its comedies moving "Yes, Dear" and "Still Standing" earlier, while relocating "The King of Queens" to Wednesday. The all-new "Two and a Half Men," brings Jon Cryer together with Charlie Sheen. It's got one of the best hammocks on any sked. The cast of "Everybody Loves Raymond" should be finished with their very interesting "What I Did Over The Summer" essays to help the entire CBS sked. Ray Romano continues to hint that this is its last season, but we'll see. Last year's freshman winner, "CSI: Miami," is going to get a little more competition from "Third Watch," but should still win.
Fox starts Monday with the second iteration of "Joe Millionaire." It'll be a short run (including the double run on Tuesday), but should prove formidable. The Jerry "Everything-I-Touch-These-Days-Turns-To-Gold" Bruckheimer produced "Skin" should get sampled, but it (like just about everything Fox this year) will be a month after everything else has started due to the MLB Postseason.
NBC created a nice slot for the new "Las Vegas" by moving "Third Watch" to the "Crossing Jordan" slot, thanks to "Jordan" star Jill Hennessy being with child. They should continue to have good performances from "Factor" and "Watch," even if the competition is a little stronger.
UPN is adding "Eve" to its Monday night comedy block. I don't think it stands a chance against The WB, but it is counterprogramming the Frog.
Three of the 15 skedded hours on Monday are new and surprisingly, The WB is the only net bringing back its exact '02-'03 Monday schedule. "7th Heaven" is going into its seventh season while "Everwood" is beginning its second. "Everwood" got more buzz in its one season that "Heaven" has received in its entire run. They are both solid -- a nice Family Monday for the WB.
