What I Say
Coming from the same producers as last year's WB hit, "Smallville," this story based on the Batman comic should fly.
My Analysis & Prediction
Probable full season, even in this competitive slot. The attractive female cast should bring in 18-34 males who aren't watching anything else. The comic book element will draw fans as well...as long as they don't alienate them, something I don't expect the producers/writers to do.
What They Say
Loosely based on the DC Comic, New Gotham is torn apart when the Joker lets loose and kills Catwoman and confines Batgirl to a wheelchair. Batman leaves the city in mourning for Catwoman, while Batgirl (aka Barbara Gordon) changes herself into "Oracle" and takes in Batman and Catwoman's secret love child, "Huntress." [ed: Mia Sara joins the cast as Harley Quinn, the Joker's consort - a role that was originally that of Sherilynn Fenn who could not commit due to scheduling issues.]
tvguide.jpgSpun from Batman lore, after Catwoman's untimely demise the Caped Crusader is grief-stricken and leaves Gotham in chaos. A wheelchair-bound Batgirl (Dina Meyer) renames herself Oracle and teams with two other powerful women to fight crime as the Birds of Prey.

In the days when Batman patrolled the dark streets and rooftops of New Gotham, the world's master criminals were drawn to the city to prove themselves against the greatest crime-fighter of them all. Now, Batman has vanished, but New Gotham still seethes with generations of criminals. For the good citizens of this dangerous place, hope comes in the unlikely form of a trio of beautiful and relentless heroines, the "Birds of Prey." In this exciting action-adventure series, the Batman legend takes an unexpected turn...
