Ye olde Alphabet network is in a decent place, even with the launch of an all-new Tuesday. Sunday's new entry
Betrayal should slide in nicely at 10p. Monday returns unchanged with
Castle as ABC's highest-rated drama.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kicks off the all-new ABC Tuesday. Launching an entirely new night is a difficult road to hoe, although slightly less so in today's any show, any time, any device world. The night, as a whole, rides on the new comedies to get viewers to
Lucky 7. Wednesday is a nicely hammocked night with two new entries (in their hammocks) between
The Middle/Modern Family and
Modern Family/Nashville. Wednesday looks good for ABC. Thursday starts in
Wonderland and Season 10(!) of
Grey's Anatomy. The still buzzworthy
Scandal ends the evening. At least ABC is trying on Friday, adding the surprising return of
The Neighbors to the third season of
Last Man Standing for a comedy hour. Saturday is all about college football. After the season, I suppose they'll just put up color bars or a test pattern.
Suburgatory comes back at some unidentified point in 2014, while The Quest bows right after the new year. Resurrection brings it home with a March debut. I wouldn't be surprised if Resurrection appears earlier should something falter (I'm looking at you, Lucky 7).
ABC is positioned well with a good mix of returning winners and newbies. The all-new Tuesday could be problematic.
