This one-hour drama is about a rebel with a cause. Teddy Rist loves women, money and power. After the tragic death of his only child, Teddy has an awakening and becomes the world's first vigilante philanthropist -- a renegade billionaire who uses his wealth, connections and power to help people in need. He'll do anything to achieve his goals -- bargain with the self-righteous, trade with the nefarious and even tell the truth. Instead of spending $25,000 a plate at a fundraiser, he's dodging bullets in third-world countries to hand-deliver vaccine. It's a global adventure that will take viewers to the ends of the Earth and will inspire them as well.

my take
Lottery meets The Amazing Race with a dash of Batman. The Philanthropist hasn't gotten out of the gate well. Several of the Executive Producers have left the show, including Tom Fontana, who is the creator. That clearly doesn't bode well, however, its not set to bow before January at the earliest, so there's time. No clips are available and very little pub. Not sure we'll get to see this one and if we do, depending on the direction they take with it, this could be a legit candidate to launch an actual night of programming on Saturday. I'm down on the lead-in (it doesn't seem to fit with Heroes) and neutral on the competition. (Lottery you say? It was on ABC Friday back in 1983. That was from memory. I need a life.)
