Merlin is an exciting, hour-long fantasy series set in the mythic city of Camelot -- but inspired by 21st Century storytelling. Before Merlin and Arthur became legends, they were ambitious young men looking for adventure, hoping to live up to their family's expectations, discovering love and finding their own true destiny, making mistakes along the way. The innovative, action-packed drama has cross-generational appeal and paints a picture of Merlin and Arthur's early life that audiences have never witnessed before.

my take
Fantasy meets NBC? Merlin is going to be a tough sell. I'm assuming NBC believes they can capitalize on the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings buzz to bring Fantasy into the mainstream. Longshot, I'll say. Sci-fi is just beginning to make its way out of the fringes of cable, and it's taken decades for that to occur. No clips were available to screen, but i really do like Anthony Head and Michelle Ryan, albeit for different reasons. It's in a decent slot, especially if NBC skews it to the lighter side of Fantasy and makes this one geared more towards kids. If it doesn't draw a crowd, SciFi (NBC's sister net), could always take it off their hands.
