What I Say |
| It's Joss and I'm a big fan, so that might make me a little too interested in what he's got planned. Reads like "Star Trek" meets "Farscape" with a dash of an evil "Love Boat", depending on who the Serenity's crew meets (and beats) each week. |
My Analysis & Prediction |
| More than 13. Anyone who's a fan of "Buffy," is going to be automatically drawn here, at least at first. It'll get big play in colleges but that amounts to a whole lot of nothing since Nielsen doesn't monitor them. There's nothing overwhelmingly compelling in the slot (Providence couldn't be farther from this demo) and that leaves it wide open. Oh yeah, Fox owns part of this. |
What They Say |
| "Buffy's" creator comes to the big leagues with this show set 800 (or 200, depending on which press materials you're using) years in the future that follows the adventures of a small transport spaceship, Serenity, and its crew. |
| "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon heads 800 years into the future. In the midst of a universal civil war, a small transport crew bond together on unpredictable missions and do whatever it takes to keep themselves alive. |

| Joss Whedon, creator of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," and an Academy Award nominee for "Toy Story," brings a powerful, original science-fiction adventure to the screen in FIREFLY. Set 800 years in the future, in the wake of a universal civil war, FIREFLY centers on the crew of Serenity, a small transport spaceship. The crew members will take any job -- legal or not -- to stay afloat and put bread on their table. Thrust together by necessity, these disparate men and women are cowboys of the future. They're seeking adventure and the good life, but facing constant challenges on the new frontier, which test and reveal their true identities. FIREFLY is about their unpredictable lives and relationships, as well as their search for meaning in a very uncertain time.
